David worked continuously in the arts since graduation in the summer of 1973, taking pivotal roles at the Royal Court Theatre, the International Music Festival in the Czech Republic, RADA, the National Foundation for Youth Music and Help Musicians UK.
He left the National Opera Studio in June 2024 after seven stimulating years as Director of Artist Development and looks back with huge pride at being Co-founder and director of the Baylis Programme at English National Opera from 1985 - 1996.
David is now enjoying freelance work, including developing his presenting and interviewing skills and is writing a narrative about Leoš Janáček’s obsession with speech-rhythms, relationship with his wife, and passion for women, four of whom provided him with the means to compose.
